What is Ask toolbar and how to remove it?
Ask toolbar is a free add-on to web browser . It visually represents an additional panel that is placed in the browser window. With its help, the user, when working on any website, receives up-to-date information about the weather, the latest world and financial news. Ask toolbar is the brainchild of the developers of the Ask.com search engine. The system's partners, who produce and sell fairly popular software, ensure distribution of the application by bundling the produced software with Ask tools. Quite often, Ask toolbar is built into the user’s computer along with the installation of other software.
Toolbar features:
- mobile access to the Ask.com search engine;
- detailed information about cards;
- fresh updates of the latest news in the world, both political, musical and financial;
- quick access to radio;
- the ability to change your status on Facebook and follow notifications on the social network;
- regional weather online and more
Automatic installation of a plugin is not always liked by users, and you can see a huge number of requests on the Internet about how to remove it.
Two ways to remove a free add-on
First way. Here we will write instructions for removing Ask toolbar for Internet Explorer. Mozilla Firefox , Google Chrome separately.
Uninstalling a program for Internet Explorer:
- Go to the browser menu by pressing the key combination “ALT” + “X”.
- Click “Manage Add-ons”, and then disable the toolbar in the dropped list.
- Install another search engine in the browser. To do this, click on the arrow located to the right of the instant search window. Select “Find other suppliers”. Here we select the search engine we are used to.
- We fix the result - restart the browser.
Uninstalling a program for Mozilla Firefox:
- We move along the following path: Tools/Manage add-ons/Extensions.
- Find the Ask toolbar and delete it.
- Type about:config into the address bar and press ENTER.
- A warning will appear from the program about the need to carefully change the data. We agree and continue.
- A huge list will appear on the screen. In it we look for keyword.url.
- We change its value depending on the preference of the search engine to the following:
http://www.google.com/search?&q=" - Google.Com
http://yandex.ru/yandsearch?text=" - Yandex.Ru
http://www.bing.com/search?q=" - Bing.Com
- Save the changes and restart the browser.
Uninstalling a program for Google Chrome:
- Go to the browser menu by pressing the key combination “ALT” + “F” or click on the icon in the upper right corner.
- Next we move along the path: Tools/Extensions. Find the Ask toolbar and click on the trash can to delete.
- After this, we return the human appearance to the search engine: Tools/Settings/Search. Here we select the search engine and save the changes - click “Use as default”.
- Restart the browser.
The second method of removing from the Asc.com site:
- Go to Ask.com and download Toolbar remover.
- Close the browser and launch the program.
- Open the browser and check the result. As you can see, the toolbar is so intrusive that users are more interested in removing it rather than installing it. Such products bring some discomfort to surfing the Internet, which indicates the spread of marketing moves by developers and the introduction of rather dubious software instead of useful ones.
