Installing Yandex Bar for the Mozilla Firefox browser

Much to the regret of many, for some unknown reason Yandex closed the project Yandex Bar. For which I have already received more than a dozen angry letters, because Yandex elements - an application that replaced the Yandex Bar panel is not the most convenient and well-functioning addition for browsers. Since it is no longer possible to download the Yandex Bar panel from the official Yandex website, we will follow a different path.

And so, install Yandex Bar for the Mozilla Firefox browser

Step number 1

Since with new versions Mozilla Firefox browser (above version 17) Yandex Bar is not supported, we need to install an older version of the browser. To check the version of the browser installed on your computer, go to Help and choose About Firefox.



If the browser version is higher than 17, delete it. This can be done via Start – Control Panel – Programs and Features. Find the browser in the list and uninstall it.



If bookmarks saved in your browser are very important to you, then when deleting you should not check the box next to Delete personal data, profiles and settings from my Firefox.



Step number 2

Install an older version of the browser. To do this, follow the link - http://download.cdn.mozilla.net. Run the installation file and install the browser on your computer.

Step number 3

Now you need to install it yourself Yandex Bar.



We allow the installation of the add-on and wait for Yandex Bar to download. Then the following window will appear:



Worth clicking "Install". In order for the panel to work, the browser must be restarted. And in the end we get what we were missing.

Step number 4

To prevent it from happening that the next time you launch the browser, we see Yandex Elements instead of the Yandex Bar, you need to disable automatic update of plugins. To do this, we should do the following: click on Tools – Settings – Advanced – Updates, vybiraem point Never check for updates and turn it off Use a background service to install updatesand Search engine plugins. Confirm your choice by pressing OK.



It is also necessary to disable automatic updating of Yandex Bar itself. To do this, enter the line in the address bar of your browser - about:config.



Agree to be careful. Then you will be taken to another window in which you need to find the following list of parameters:

- app.update.auto
- app.update.enabled
- browser.search.update
- extensions.update.enabled

They should be disabled by setting the value false. Then you should go back to Tools – Add-ons – More details and disable Automatic update.
