How to install a new font in Photoshop?
Wanting to install beautiful fonts for Adobe Photoshop, many users have a question: how to actually do this? It's actually very simple! The procedure will not take you more than 2-3 minutes.
I would like to immediately note that fonts are not created specifically for Photoshop, so the fonts will be installed on the computer, and the graphics editor will load all the fonts available on the PC into the program. However, there is another installation method that expands the installation options. But first things first. Just download any universal font you like in the format TrueType (.ttf). Before downloading, pay attention to whether the font supports Cyrillic (i.e. Russian), if you are going to write something in Russian, of course.
So, you have downloaded beautiful fonts with the .ttf extension, and you already want to use them quickly. How to install them? Adobe Photoshop uses a shared font library located on your computer. This library already has various fonts, and we just need to expand it.
You can always see from the font preview whether it supports the Russian language or not. If it supports, then you will see the letters Abf, and if it does not support, then Abg. The letters themselves also reflect the font style.
Font installation:
• select the font required for installation;
• click on it with the right mouse button;
• select the option “Install».
If there are several fonts, then you can do it even simpler:
• follow the path C: \ Windows \ Fonts;
• select all fonts that need to be installed;
• drag them into a folder Fonts.
Or:
• select all fonts that need to be installed;
• press goryachie key Ctrl + Cto copy them;
• follow the path C: \ Windows \ Fonts;
• click in any empty space between the fonts with the right mouse button;
• choose "Insert».
An alternative copying method is to copy the fonts to the Photoshop folder. Copying like this:
• allows you to use fonts other formats, Not only TrueType (.ttf);
• may slow down the program if a large number of fonts are copied. Choose fonts wisely;
• allows you not to add fonts to the Windows library. Other programs (such as text editors) will not be able to use the added fonts.
To add Photoshop-only fonts, do the following:
• follow this path:C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts;
• if folders Fonts in the folder Adobe no, then just create it;
• copy all new fonts to the folder Fonts. There is another way to install fonts in Photoshop - using a special installer. In this case, the fonts will not be installed in either Windows or Photoshop. If you are not going to install 100 fonts, then think about whether you need it? If yes, then we recommend using programs such as:
• Adobe Type Manager;
• Adobe Type Manager Deluxe;
• Fonts Expert.
There is no need to activate the installed font in Photoshop itself. It is enough to select it during work and use it.
