NPAPI plugins in Google Chrome browser

Today there are quite a lot different browsers. Some browsers are very popular, while others are disliked by many. For example, bGoogle Chrome browser is one of the most popular browsers. What do you think most modern browsers have in common? In fact, there are many such things. But we can safely say that you can connect a variety of plugins and extensions to every modern browser. As you know, a plugin is a specific addition that expands the capabilities of the program to which it is connected. Let's focus on the Google Chrome browser. This browser has a wide variety of plugins and extensions. For example, using certain plugins you can play online games or watch certain types of videos.

Many users may have heard about NPAPI plugins. We won’t go into details, but let’s just say that these plugins have been used for a very long time in many browsers. But the authors of the Google Chrome browser decided to abandon these plugins back in 2013. The main reason for abandoning them is their “old age”. For clarity, NPAPI plugins were developed back in 1990. And according to the developers, using NPAPI plugins in the Google Chrome browser is unsafe.

In 2015, Google Chrome developers completely abandoned NPAPI plugins. In more detail, version 42 of the browser completely lacks support for these plugins. But, nevertheless, given that some users need these plugins, the authors of Google Chrome have made it possible to temporarily activate these plugins.

So, if you are one of those users who require NPAPI plugins in Google Chrome browser, then you can activate them as follows. First of all, launch the browser itself. Then in the address bar write: chrome: // flags / # enable-npapi.

After this, a window will open in which you need to click on the button that says "Enable NPAPI". It looks something like this.

After this, a button will appear in the lower left corner that says "Restart". To complete the procedure, you will need to click on it. Today, you can still use NPAPI plugins in the Google Chrome browser. But after the release of the 45th version of this browser, the use of these plugins will no longer be available. And if you really need them, you will have to use a different browser.

It's good that there is a function to enable these plugins for those who need them.
