Removing write protection in Total Commander

A window with the message “Remove recording protection!” may occur if the file wincmd.ini (or wincmd64.ini) is marked read-only.

To fix the error, you just need to change the user's access rights regarding this file.
We solve the problem
- Open the folder where the Total Commander program is located.
- Find the file wincmd.ini (or wincmd64.ini for 64-bit systems). Right-click on it and select Materials. It may happen that the wincmd.ini file is hidden. To open access to hidden files, read on our website this article.
- Click the Security, select the username under which you are logged in and click on the button Change.
- In the new window, click on the user name again, and then check all the boxes below, as shown in the screenshot.
After these steps, the window with a message about record protection will no longer appear, and the program will work correctly.
