gp5 file: where is it used and how to open it?

As mentioned above, gp5 files are created in Guitar Pro and contain the following data: sound and audio notation, so when playing such files the user can see which strings and on which frets they need to be held. If this data can be written to the gp5 file using Guitar Pro, then it is logical to assume that the same program is capable of reading such information. And this is absolutely true.
You can go to the main page of the Guitar Pro website follow this link https://www.guitar-pro.com/en/index.php, but right away you will see that this application is paid, but for informational purposes the developers offer a trial version with a lot of restrictions.

In principle, this should be enough to open a gp5 file, but if the capabilities of the free version are not enough for you, then you should know that you can open this file not only using Guitar Pro.
TuxGuitar app
TuxGuitar, like Guitar Pro, can open and play gp5 files with one exception: it is completely free.
Here are:
- own editor;
- the ability to view tablature and scores;
- the presence of various sound effects;
- melody tempo control;
- hotkey support;
- mixer;
- the presence of virtual piano keys.

You can download TuxGuitar follow this link https://sourceforge.net/projects/tuxguitar/. As a result, it is worth noting that both programs do an excellent job with the task, but if you still feel the need to work with gp5 files for a long time, then we recommend purchasing the full version of the Guitar Pro program, which has much more capabilities for working with this type of file than TuxGuitar.
