How to play MDS format

You can reproduce data recorded in the form of an image using special utilities. The MDS extension is usually needed for files that contain additional data about the disk image (auxiliary information only).

Utilities for opening MDS format

It should be remembered that this format is auxiliary. If you need to run an image, you should use the data recorded in the MDF extension; without it, opening MDS will not bring any benefit.

Method 1: Using the Alcohol 120% program

The files whose format we are interested in must have been recorded somehow. Usually the recording utility is Alcohol 120%, so it will see this extension in any case. This application is used to write data to disk drives and create images. Unfortunately, the program is paid, but for short-term use, the trial version is also suitable.
The step-by-step instructions for the program are as follows:

1. Having opened the program, select in the tab "File" item "Open". You can also use hotkeys and press Ctrl + A.
   
   
   
   
   
2. We need to find the file we are interested in and open it.
   
   
   
   
   
3. The file you selected will appear in the main window. Open the menu with the right mouse button and find "Mount to device".
   
   
   
   
   
4. After the program finishes, you will be able to select actions that can be taken with this file. Mounting may take a long time if the file size is too large.
   
   
   
   

Method 2: Using DAEMON Tools Lite

The program has many different useful functions, but, like the previous one, it is available in a paid version. A trial version is also suitable for our needs:

1. Open the program and on the left side of the window that opens we find "Images", after which you need to click on the icon "+".
   
   
   
   
   
2. We look for the file you are interested in, and then open it. You can also find it in any way convenient for you and simply drag it to an empty space in the tab "Images".
   
   
   
   
   
3. Right-click on the file and select from the menu that appears "Open". The same result can be achieved using the function "Quick Mount".
   
   
   
   

Method 3: Use the UltraISO utility

Another program that will do a great job of opening an MDS file. It has the same functions and differs only in a less attractive design. The program is paid, but you can use it after the demo period has expired. True, many functions will be unavailable, but it will be able to open the MDS file.

Instructions for working with this program:

1. Launch it and find the tab in the window that appears "File". Click "Open". You can achieve the same result by clicking on the folder icon next to the tab "Actions".

3. The window will display the information found in the MDS file. In the tab "Action" select a menu item "Extract".
   
   
   
   

Method 4: PowerISO

This program is most similar to UltraISO, but it has a simpler menu. It, like the previous utilities, is paid, but the functionality you need is also available in the trial version.

1. Having opened the program, select the menu item "File" and in the list that appears, click on "Open". You can achieve the same result by clicking on the folder icon on the panel.

3. The information contained in the file will appear in the main field. Select it and click on the icon "Extract".
   
   
   
   

Regardless of the program you choose, there is nothing difficult in the process of opening an MDS file. The main thing to remember is that if you do not have a file with the MDF extension, most likely you will not be able to open MDS.
