Connecting your TV to your computer via HDMI
One of the most convenient and easiest ways to connect a TV to a computer is using an HDMI cable.
Modern TVs are initially equipped with the necessary connector, so there is no need for adapters, and the presence of such a connector ensures the best sound and image quality. What are the rules and sequence of such a connection? Does this require settings?
Let's start in order.
Before connecting the TV to the computer, both devices must be turned off. Then simply connect the purchased cable to the existing HDMI connector. Which side of the cable does not matter, if the video card is equipped with a full-connector, but when not, then the cable should have different connectors at the end: on the one hand, a full-connector HDMI, on the other, the one installed on the video card. They come in three types: full (type A), mini (type C) or micro (type D).
After connecting the cable, you first need to turn on the TV, then the computer. When loading the operating system, the TV screen will blink slightly, indicating that it is connected to an external source. The TV should be switched to AV mode, so it will switch to displaying not using an antenna, but from an external source, in this case, from a computer. Many TVs initially have the ability to choose which output to display the signal from.
When connecting for the first time using an HDMI cable, you must configure the video card. To do this, right-click on the computer desktop and select “Properties” – “Options” – “Advanced”. The path may vary in different operating systems; sometimes you may need to find “Video card properties” (adapter or video adapter).
There are times when you need to take into account the presence of several connections, for example, one or two more monitors via the DVI interface, which is also digital, like HDMI. And in this situation it may not work, then it is better to turn off one of the monitors.
If necessary, you can make resolution settings, size and color correction of the desktop. If the TV is used as a second monitor, then it needs to contain identical Windows settings, for which follow the instructions of the installed video card.
