How to make folders invisible in Windows 7

Everyone has secrets, but not everyone has a personal computer to safely store them. Many will say that in this case you can download a special program for storing files, but why install something if there is a simple opportunity to make the folder invisible without resorting to third-party software. There are several ways to create an invisible folder. We will reveal two of them.

The first method

Let's write a sequential algorithm for turning a folder into an invisible object:

- First, select the location where our folder will be located.

- We create or place a ready-made folder with classified materials there. In our case, we named the folder “Invisible” and placed it on the “D” drive.



- Then open the command line by using hotkey combinations Winkey+R.

- In the line we write the address of our folder and give it the necessary attributes that it must have in order to become invisible. Applicable to our case it will look like this



- Press “Enter” and check the result.

Now let's decipher the attribute formula:

- h – hidden;

- r – read only;

- s – system.

Making a folder invisible

Again, create a folder on the desktop. After that, right-click on it and select “Properties”. Next, go to the “Settings” tab, where we need to replace the folder display icon. To do this, click on “Change icon...”.



A window with a set of standard icons will appear on the screen. Among them there is a transparent one. That's what we need to find.



Then click the “Ok” button.

Now we make the folder name invisible

To do this, right-click on the folder and select “Rename”. Delete the old name, then press the key combination “Alt+255”. This will allow us to include a space character in the name. Naturally, such a name will not be displayed.

Numbers must be entered using the optional numeric keypad. As you can see, you can use standard computer capabilities to do hidden folder, and without having to resort to downloading and installing additional software.
