How to check spelling in Mozilla Firefox

Как проверять орфографию в Mozilla Firefox

Spell checking works very simply: as soon as the word has been entered, it is automatically checked by the built-in dictionary, and if it was not found, then Mozilla Firefox browser will highlight it with a red line. Spell checking only works in text fields with more than one line. How to enable/disable automatic spell checking?

By default, after installing the browser, auto spell check is enabled, but if you have disabled it, you can enable it back in this way:

• press the key with three horizontal stripes Как проверять орфографию в Mozilla Firefox and then Setting;
• find the tab More;
• in the general tab, find the parameter Check spelling while typing and check the box;
• press OK.

How to fix errors?

An incorrectly typed word that was underlined by the auto-check service can be corrected either manually or by right-clicking on the erroneous word. The browser will offer several suggestions for words that you may have had in mind as you typed.

If you are sure that you typed the word correctly, but the dictionary does not recognize it, right-click on the word and select the option Dobavit and dictionary.

How to add a dictionary?

If you are typing text in another language for which a dictionary is not installed, then right-click on an empty space in the text field and select the option Languages. Another window will open, which will prompt you to select another dictionary from the list of available ones. If the required dictionary is not in this list, then click Add dictionaries.

Selecting this option will open the Mozilla Add-ons page with dictionaries. Find the language you need in the list of languages and click on the link next to it Install dictionary.

Validating text in single-line fields

As mentioned earlier, by default the browser does not validate single-line fields, which is not very convenient for many users. For example, the browser does not check the entered text in the search engine bar. Of course, you can right-click on a single-line field and select Spellchecking, but you will have to do this every time you need to check a one-line field.

However, this misunderstanding can be easily corrected, using the settings in the browser itself. This is done like this:

• write in the address bar about:config;

• in field Filter write spell;
• among the suitable parameters we select layout.spellcheckDefault and click on it with the left mouse button twice;

• in the window that opens, change the parameter from 1 on 2 and push OK.
Now spellchecking will work in single line fields too.
