How to block an application from accessing the Internet?

Some programs installed on your computer can independently use the Internet connection. For example, when the Internet is active, the program begins to update itself, reducing connection speed. And all this is done without user intervention. But if you do not need such independence of programs, then you can deny this application access to the Internet. In order to prevent an application from accessing the Internet, you must use a standard tool in the Windows operating system, namely the Windows Firewall, which is a kind of built-in antivirus program.

To go to the firewall, you first need to go to the control panel of your computer. Then find and click on the tab "Categories". And here select "Large icons". This will make it easier to find the Windows Firewall.


Now we find the Windows Firewall and go to it. Here in the upper left corner there is a list of options and settings. Select and click on the item "More options". A new window will open in which you need to select the item "Rules for incoming connections". Now click on the item "Create Rule".


A new window will open in which you will need to select the type of rule. We need to block the application from accessing the Internet. Therefore, select the item "For the program". Then press the button "Next". After this, in a new window you need to select the program itself. To do this, click on the button "Review" and select the desired program. After this, you need to press the button againNext". A new window will open in which you need to select the item "Block the program".


Again you need to press the button "Next". After this, a new window will open in which you need to check all the boxes and click on the button again"Next". At the end, a window will appear in which you need to give a name to the blocked program and press the button "Finish". A program that you have blocked in this way will not be able to access the Internet on its own.
