Firmware for D-Link DIR 620 router

Прошивка роутера D-Link DIR 620

It often happens that router malfunctions are associated with software errors. In this regard, manufacturers of these devices release updated firmware that corrects errors and shortcomings identified in previous versions of the software. Also, updating the software is necessary to increase and expand the functionality of the device, adding new formats and standards. Before you start flashing the router, you must disconnect all cables from it, except the one to which the computer will be connected for flashing. You also need to disconnect all wireless connections. In order to update the firmware of the D-Link DIR-620 router, you must first download the latest device firmware from the manufacturer’s official website. When choosing firmware, you need to pay attention to the hardware revision of the device (Can be seen on the sticker at the bottom of the device). The wrong choice of firmware can lead to the failure of the router.

Then you need to open router settings. For this any browser, and enter the address of the router in the address bar (by default you need to enter: 192.168.0.1). Next, a window will appear in which you need to enter the login and password of the router (by default, the login is admin and the password is admin). The next step will depend on the hardware revision and installed firmware of the router.

There are several upgrade options.

Option one - you need to go to the “System” section, then click on “Software Update”. Next, you need to click on the “Browse” button and select the device firmware file. Then click on the “Update” button.

Option two – you need to go to the “Advanced settings” section. In the System section, click on the right arrow. Then click on the “Software Update” button. Next, through the review you need to select the firmware file and click the “Update” button.

Option three – You need to go to the “Manually configure” menu. Next, in the “System” tab, select “Software Update”. Using the browse button, select the firmware file and click on the “Update” button. The router updates the firmware in 3–4 minutes. Once the process of flashing the router has begun, you cannot disconnect it from the network, as this can lead to damage to the device. After the firmware is completed, the router should reboot. A browser window will prompt you to enter your username and password.

After the software update is complete, it is recommended that you also reset router settings to default settings and then configure it again. After resetting the settings, you need to turn off the power to the router from the electrical network and turn it on again. After turning it on, you need to go to the router settings to enter the data for connecting to the Internet issued by your provider. Then, saving the new settings, reboot again. After completing all of the above, you can use the router with updated software.

Firmware for a router (and anything else) has always seemed complicated to me. But I read the article and it turned out to be not particularly difficult, they’re just pushing more fluff.
