Introducing: hibernation
Hibernation is a computer mode that allows you to save all open files and programs on your hard drive after turning off the power. This mode is designed specifically for laptops. Thus, when turned on, the contents of the memory are restored, which allows the user to continue working from the place of his last activity. Unlike spyashchego mode During hibernation, feeding stops completely. Benefits of hibernation:
1. Spending a minimum of time logging in and out of the system;
2. Does not require user participation, it is done automatically;
3. Hibernation can be applied to individual programs.
Disadvantages of hibernation:
1. Occupies a large amount of hard disk space, almost reaching the amount of RAM;
2. There is a problem with some programs entering hibernation;
3. Changing the contents on the disk causes the previous data to become outdated. Outdated programs may not work correctly;
4. If a hardware failure occurs, there may be a problem exiting the mode;
5. Not all operating systems encrypt the hibernation file, which reduces its security;
6. Long system startup, similar in time to a new full boot of the operating system.
To wake up the operating system from hibernation, you need to press the power button. There are other ways to resume work, for example, press any key on the keyboard or mouse button; on a laptop, you can open the lid.
The hibernation command may not appear in the shutdown menu for several reasons: enabling hybrid sleep mode; the video card does not support the mode; Hibernation is disabled in the computer's BIOS; in this case, you need to update the BIOS.
Enabling hibernation can be done in the hiberfil.sys file, which is located in the root of the system disk on which Installed Windows. To enable or disable hibernation, use the administrator line and enter the command: powercfg /h off - disable, powercfg /h on - enable. To store data in RAM for a longer period of time, you should use hibernation. This mode is intended for laptops, tablets and devices that are equipped with batteries.
