How to format a flash drive on Mac
Apple technology differs in many ways from other manufacturers. For this reason, it is not always clear how to do this or that simple action in Mac OS. Many users have encountered the problem of formatting flash drives. To format a flash drive on Mac OS, you need to do the following:
- insert the flash drive into the computer for formatting;
- find Utilities along the following path:
It should look like this on the screen.
Select Disk Utility from the drop-down list.
Next, select our flash drive, and then the file system. In order for the device to be opened under Windows and Mac OS in the future, select “MS-DOS File System”.
To start formatting, click “Erase”, that is, “Erase”. Formatting in Mac OS does not take much time from the user, but it is worth approaching the process responsibly. After all, if you select the wrong formatting options, the flash drive will become a hostage to the Mac OS, and its will not recognize Windows devices.
