How to remove Avast antivirus from your computer

No one can argue that in recent years, technological progress has made a huge leap in development. Note! Before you begin uninstalling your antivirus, it is recommended to do the following:

Right-click on the Avast icon, which is located in the tray (lower right corner of the screen) and open the “Settings” item.

Method 1: Uninstall Avast through the Control Panel. 

Disconnect your computer from Internet access. Now open the Start menu and select Control Panel. In the window that opens, find “Add or Remove Programs” (Windows XP) or “Programs and Features” (Windows 7,8) and double-click to open it.

In the list of installed programs on your computer, find “Avast”, right-click it and click “Uninstall”. You will need to confirm your firm intention, after which the removal procedure will begin.

Method 3. Removing the antivirus through the registry. 

This method should be used only if the two methods described above were unable to remove the antivirus from the computer. Be sure to strictly follow the instructions below and do not delete settings that you know nothing about.

Open the Start menu and type “Run” in the search bar. One single result will appear, which you need to open. In the window that opens, enter without quotes “regedit».

The registry will open, in the header of which you need to select the “Edit” tab and the “Find” item. Enter "avast" in the search bar.


Once a section or parameter called “avast” is found, it must be deleted using the Delete key on the keyboard or by right-clicking and selecting “Delete”.

Carry out this procedure until the registry stops producing results for your request. Before exiting the registry, be sure to save your changes.

Go to the Program Files folder and delete the “avast” folder. Finally, open the Start menu and type “avast” in the search bar and delete all the results that appear.
