What is WPS on a router?
To make wireless Internet at home, you first of all need wi-fi router. You can purchase such a router yourself or rent it from your provider. Then you will need configure the router and then use wireless Internet in your home. But many routers have special technology that makes setting up the router much easier. This technology is called Wi-Fi Protected Setup or simply WPS. This standard is intended primarily for inexperienced users, namely for those users who do not have the necessary knowledge to set up wireless networks. That is, this standard automatically sets the necessary wireless network settings.
Many modern routers have a button that turns on the WPS standard. Just press this button and hold it for a few seconds. After this, within a couple of minutes, the wireless network will be automatically configured and after that you can enjoy all the delights of the wireless Internet. It is worth noting that some routers may support the WPS function, but do not have a special button. In this case, you can enable the WPS function using the software method. In this case, you need a PIN code. This pin code can be found on the router itself (most often it will be on a label that is attached to the router body). This pin code can also be found in the router’s web interface in the section "WPS".
After you find out the PIN code, you need to go to the menu where there is a list of all wireless networks. Among this list you need to find yours and click on it. After these steps a window will open "Connect to the network". In it you will need to enter your PIN code and click on the button "Further". Within a few minutes the setup will be completed, after which you will be able to work with this wireless network.
