Introducing: UEFI Boot
From the beginning of its creation, UEFI was called the Intel Boot Initiative, but later its name was changed to Extensible Firmware Interface. But the first official version appeared in 2000. After 5 years, the Unified EFI Forum alliance of companies was created, so the name changed accordingly. This alliance included the world's leading companies: Apple, AMD, Insyde Software, Lenovo, Microsoft and Phoenix Technologies and others. In 2011, the latest version of UEFI 2.3.1 was released. Main advantages of UEFI over BIOS
- The best virus protection.
- Ability to boot the OS from hard drives that have a large amount of memory. After all, the BIOS allows loading the OS from a hard drive that has no more than 2TB of memory.
- Can be used on all processors, regardless of their architecture.
- Creates a graphical shell in which you can use the mouse.
- Ability to launch programs and processes without installed OS. (For example, accessing the Internet and connecting to a local network).
- Accelerated OS loading due to parallel testing of PC components. The best result is 2 seconds.
- The presence of an operating system boot manager, which allows the user to independently select the desired OS to boot. Which saves a lot of time and effort. UEFI - this is the future of every computer. BIOS becomes unnecessary, because old operating systems are almost never used by users.
