Setting up a WiFi router from Beeline
The Netgear WNR-612 v2 router was chosen as an example. You can use any other router, since the settings for all of them will be identical. By reading this article, you can easily configure your router model for comfortable operation. At the very beginning, you should connect the cable from your provider to the blue WAN port of the device, and also connect your computer to the router using a patch cord (shown in the figure below). To do this, connect the cable to one of the yellow ports of the router with one end, and the other to the connector on the network card of another device.
After connecting, you will need to open the settings window. To do this we launch favorite browser (it can be anything, it’s absolutely uncritical). In the address bar you need to indicate the address of the router, and then enter your username and password. These parameters are most often indicated by the manufacturer on the back of the device or in the instructions (sometimes it can be both).
Router settings are located at routerlogin.net, and login and password respectively admin и Password. Please note that your login and password can be changed to more convenient ones in the future.
Basic settings that are enough for the router to start fully functioning:
1. You need to specify the connection type (PPTP, or even better L2TP, but it may not always be available);
2. VPN address. It will be indicated in the documentation that the provider usually provides after concluding an agreement with users.
The VPN address can be:
tp.internet.beeline.ru – designed for connection via L2TP;
vpn.internet.beeline.ru – designed for connecting via PPTP.
Consider next setting up a router model D-Link DIR 300 to use the Internet from Beeline.
To begin, the device connects to the Internet and computer. This is done exactly as described in the first part of the article. After connecting, you need to go to the device’s web interface, which can be done using the following data:
- router address – 192.168.1.1 (it is typical for a huge number of router models and is also indicated on the back of the device);
- should be used as login admin;
- also used as a password admin. If after this you are transferred to the quick settings page of the Beeline provider, then the setup will take only a few moments.
1. In the “Home Internet” section you can configure the network. Everything you need for this is already built into the device’s firmware by the manufacturer; you only need to specify your password and login using the appropriate fields for this;
2. The Wi-Fi section is for setting up wireless connections. In the “network name” field we indicate the name of the future network, and in the “password” field - the corresponding password (it must be at least 8 characters long);
3. If, in addition to the Internet, you use the “digital television” service, then you should connect a set-top box to the router. After this, you will be able to watch TV channels directly on your computer screen;
4. In the “Access to the router” section, you can change the login and password that are used to log into the web interface.
