Automatic computer shutdown

Автоматическое выключение компьютера

In fact, you don’t need any program or special timer to shut down your Windows 7 computer, since this is a very simple task and can be solved with standard applications without installing additional software.

Why do you need to automatically shut down your computer?
Many people use torrents, they check the computer for viruses and there is no way to turn off the computer manually. The same parental control so that children do not sit at the computer for a long time. There are plenty of tasks of this kind.

Task Scheduler

Open Start and type “Task Scheduler” in the search. With this program you can not only configure auto shutdown, but also turn on the alarm. Open it and go to the “Create a simple task” item. A window will open in front of you in which you need to enter a name and description. You can write whatever you want here, the essence does not change. This is simply a task designation. Entered, click Next, and indicate when the task should be run. For example, click daily and click Next. In the next window, indicate at what time the task should start. Let's move on to the next point and here we need to choose what action will be performed.

There are only three of them:
1. Launch the program
2. Send an email
3. Display a message.

Select the first item - “Run program”. In the “program or script” field write the command shutdown. In Russian it means shutdown. Also in the “add arguments” field you need to enter the following values: -s–f. Thanks to these options, running programs will be forcibly terminated, which ensures that the computer turns off. Otherwise, some programs may require exit confirmation and because of this the computer will not turn off. This is what the window looks like when everything is filled out correctly.

And then click “Finish” and on the appointed date the computer will automatically turn off. But there is another way.

Power plans

Windows 7 introduces very convenient power plans. It doesn't matter what kind of computer you have, desktop or laptop. Just go to the "Control Panel", find the "Power Options" item. In the selected plan, click “Set up power plan” and find the item “Put to sleep mode:”. Here we indicate the inactivity time after which the computer will be put into sleep mode and click “Save changes”.

Now, as soon as you leave the computer, your computer will automatically turn off after a specified interval. For some tasks, this method is much more convenient than the first one, which was described above. Conclusion
As you can see, automatic shutdown of the computer can be achieved using standard methods. But this is a very primitive way. Specialized programs will provide much more functionality and automation. These methods are quite suitable if complex shutdown settings are not required.
