How to change the password on a router
For better protection, you need to change the password set on the router at the factory. The password key must contain at least 8 characters, contain signs and symbols, uppercase and lowercase letters, so that it is more difficult to crack, and for even greater security, you can change it, for example, once a month. To change password first you need to rewrite the data that comes with the router; most often it is written on a sticker at the bottom of the device. It contains your login, password and address. Next, you need to connect to the network and enter the address in the browser using http://.
A window will appear on the screen where you will need to enter your login and password.
If the window does not appear, you need to check your WiFi settings.
The screen will display router settings menu. You will need to select the “Network Connections” section in the “Control Panel”, then “Wireless Connection”. Next, right-click on it, select “Properties” and then “Protocol Version 4 Property”. In the window that appears, you must enter a static IP address. It must be different from the router’s IP address, and the penultimate digit of both addresses must be the same. For example, the router address is 176.121.3.1., then the network address should be 176.121.3.2. After entering, save the settings and click “Ok”.
As a result of these actions, an authorization form should appear on the screen where you will need to enter a password and login. Then a window with the router settings will appear. In it you should select the “WiFi” and “Security” section, and then select the security check type WPA2-PSK.
At the bottom there will be a password window. You need to erase this password and enter a new one, and then click the “Apply” button. With these simple steps, the password for the router will be changed.
