Learning to set the BIOS to boot from a flash drive

Учимся выставлять в биосе загрузку с флешки

Disk-based storage devices have lost their practicality and former popularity. Much more convenient to use bootable flash drive. You can always easily send important information to it. Quite often it is used to install the system on laptops. To do this, you need to set the BIOS to boot from a flash drive. BIOS version (CMOS) Setup-Utility

1 We connect the flash drive to the computer as usual, via a USB port. The best port is located on the motherboard (usually behind the system unit). Why is it better? It will take a long time to explain, we need to write a separate article here, just remember what is better.

2 When the computer boots (when turned on or when rebooting), press the key frequently and rhythmically (once every about.1 seconds... previously it was hotkey F2, but with the emergence of a large number of manufacturers, everyone is trying to do something of their own. Therefore, you should try different keys: Del, Esc, F12, F2, F3, F10, F8, F1, Ctrl+F2. The last option is very rare and is more common on laptops.

3 Make sure that the USB controller is turned on. This is done very simply - the Boot tab and put the flash drive in 1st place in the list.

4 So, after pressing the key, we got into the BIOS (its interface is very simple, blue, black and white). What to do here? Using the keyboard arrows (down and up), select Advanced BIOS Features. Now press ENTER.

5 In the list that appears on the screen, you need to mark USB-HDD. In case of failure or error, select USB-FDD. We put this device in 1st place. That is, this will mean that reading must first be done from the flash drive, and then everything else.

6 Last thing - get out! Just press ESC and exit this list of devices, save the changes and confirm exiting the BIOS, then BIOS restarts the computer.

Award Bios Version

Everything is the same up to 3 points.

3 point. Let's go to Integrated Peripherals. And select the flash drive from the list, then Enter and select Enable. Next, exit via Esc.

Next, go to Advanced BIOS Features and select Hard Disk Boot from the list. Then click First Boot Device.

Exit and save the changes.

AMI Bios

Starting from point 3. Everything is the same, only the tabs are different:

1. Advanced
2.USB Configuration
3. Select the USB Function item and Enabled

Further everything is the same as in the Award Bios version. Even if you are an inexperienced user, you need to know the basic principles of working with BIOS.
