How to set the BIOS to boot from a flash drive?
Many computer and laptop users have tried different options for loading into the BIOS from a flash drive, however, without getting the desired result, they ask for help from more experienced users, while claiming that they have different buttons and a different BIOS. Let's take a point-by-point look at why a person cannot boot from a flash drive:
• Firstly, there may be a situation when the computer’s motherboard (main) board does not support booting from a flash drive. There is only one solution here - change the motherboard or the entire system unit, since it’s only a matter of hardware.
• Secondly, a “bad” flash drive has been created, i.e. it either has an error, or you did something wrong. The solution is to reinstall the installation files onto the USB flash drive.
• Thirdly, is this port connected? The solution is to try switching the flash drive to another USB port.
These are just the main problems, when we solved them, we set the boot from an external drive in the BIOS. So, let's begin!
In order to set the boot in BIOS from a flash drive, you need to do the following:
1. Connect the flash drive to the computer via a USB port. The best port is located on the motherboard (usually behind the system unit). Why is it better? It will take a long time to explain, we need to write a separate article here, just remember what is better.
2. When loading the computer (when turning on or rebooting), frequently and rhythmically (once every 1 second) press the key... previously it was hotkey F2, but with the emergence of a large number of manufacturers, everyone is trying to do something of their own. Therefore, you should try different keys: Del, Esc, F1, F2, F3, F8, F10, F12, Ctrl+F2. The last option is very rare and is more common on laptops.
3. So, after pressing the key we got into BIOS (its interface is very simple, blue, black and white). What to do here? Using the keyboard arrows (up and down), select Advanced BIOS Features. Now press ENTER.
4. In the list that appears on the screen, you need to mark USB-HDD. In case of failure or error, select USB-FDD. We put this device in 1st place. That is, this will mean that reading must first be done from the flash drive, and then everything else.
5. The last thing is to get out! To do this, simply press ESC. We save the changes and confirm the action from the BIOS. Reboot the computer. Setting the system to boot from a flash drive in BIOS is easy. This skill will definitely come in handy.
