Error 1068: The child service could not start

Error 1068 appears when running any processes on the computer whose services are currently disabled. For example, this could happen when trying to unmute or create a homegroup. Don't make a radical decision right away reinstall Windows. First you need to check which service is not running. To do this, open the list of services that are involved in the operation of the computer as follows:

- Call up the task manager by pressing hotkey combinations "Ctrl+Alt+Del".



- Go to the “Services” tab. It is the very first one in the top panel on the right. To be able to manage the operation of all services, open them by clicking on the “Open services” button.



We check the status of the following services:

- Application Layer Gateway Service, which provides third-party protocol support for Internet connection sharing.
-Network connections.

- Network Information Service (NLA).

- Plug and Play.

- Telephony.

- Remote procedure call (RPC).

- Remote access connection manager.

- Manager of automatic remote access connections.

Services should have a "Running" status. To see which services depend on a given service, as well as what it itself depends on, you need to open its properties.

To do this, right-click on the service and select “Properties”, and then go to the “Dependencies” tab.



If any of the services is turned off and does not work, then it needs to be started. To do this, you need to select it by clicking, and then press the green “play” button in the top panel.



After the service settings have been changed, you need to restart the computer and check the functionality of the applications. All Windows services must be configured correctly. Therefore, if somewhere and for some reason you stopped the service on your own, then you need to set it to default, that is, standard, and then to restart a computer.
