Asus RT N10P setup
In fact, there is nothing difficult in setting up Asus routers - they have an intuitive interface in the firmware and do not require any special skills. Now you will see this. First of all, check the connection of the router itself to the network. The main Ethernet cable must be connected to the INTERNET connector (roughly speaking, from the entrance), and the main computer must be connected to the LAN 1 connector using an identical Ethernet cable.
Before setting up, reset the settings to factory defaults. To do this, press the Reset button (you will need a thin object - a needle or a pen - in order to use this treasured button) for 10 seconds, then wait a couple of minutes.
After that, go to the Network and Sharing Center from the computer's Control Panel. "Local Area Connection" should be displayed. Left-click on it and go to “Properties”. Of these, we are looking for “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)”. In the properties of this item, set the IP address and DNS servers to automatic.
Next is working with the computer. Need to come in to any Internet browser and register http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 - depending on the firmware, there are different ways to go to the control panel. After this, authentication will be required - there are also several methods, one of which is probably correct: login admin, passwords: admin, password, 1234, 0000, or a completely blank password. One way or another, all login data should be located on the bottom of the router to the control panel.
When we finally go to the treasured ASUS menu, we immediately go to the “WAN” settings, which we select in the left column of the site. We select “WAN connection type”, which you need to find out from your provider, and also determine whether to receive an IP address automatically or not (Yes or No). If the provider provides for the router to receive data automatically, there are no questions. If any data is provided that needs to be recorded manually, we do so, having first checked the “No” box.
Next is setting up a WiFi connection. The "Wireless Network" menu section is responsible for this.
- SSID - the name of your router;
- Hide SSID - display the router name or not;
- Country code - we are looking for our country;
- Wireless network mode, Channel width - we don’t change anything;
- Channel - it is advisable to set something other than automatic or the first - optimally from 6 to 9. Changing the channel will help you speed up your wireless Internet connection;
- Extended channel - unchanged;
- WPA Preshared Key - Your password;
- Authentication method is WEP, WPA or WPA2. The most modern is WPA2, so we install it. The rest of the settings are default.
